Necklace and Ornaments... must be Christmas

I've had several requests for the necklace shirt and it is one of my favorites!  This is was the first one on a colored shirt and I tried out an iridescent white (which turned out more like silver).

And with some free time to myself today...  I whipped up for my first Christmas shirt idea.

What would you put on a Christmas shirt?

I interrupt this blog to bring you... Froda

Typically, I'm not one to jump on the bandwagon of things to do (Twilight, Harry Potter, mowing...) but I could not pass up the fun with The Elf on the Shelf!

Although $30 was a bit ridiculous for a somewhat scary looking picture book and an equally ugly elf doll, it's the first thing about Christmas I've looked forward to since... ever?
(I don't like Christmas, by the way)

Thanks to Pinterst, the idea for our Elf friend grew and grew.  Different things he may be up to at night, clothes he may try on, etc.

After watching The Elf on the Shelf movie last night (thank you CBS), we knew it was time for our elf to make his appearance.
Meet Froda!

Our sweet lil elf was kind enough to bring us a North Pole breakfast (snow covered donuts and North Pole snowmen in place)!

And someone was extremely excited, yet nonchalant about the initial meeting.

But the real kicker, the part she couldn't get over... the donuts!

I'll post pictures of the fun things Froda does around our house this Christmas!

Are you doing Elf on the Shelf?

November 17th... how is that possible?

I've been slacking on the posting part of life, sorry about that.  It seems that with everything that goes on during the day the last thing I want to do is get on the computer anymore (when did that day come?!)

I have been continuing on beautifying my workspace and am hoping to get some pictures put up this weekend so stay tuned...

I also have a few more project pictures to get put up!  Hopefully you've been checking out my Facebook page and keeping up-to-date with me!

Talk soon,

Turkey Day is coming

I was asked to re-create a Pinterest find by a friend from work.
This is my version and I'm thinking Chloe needs one, too.

Leave some love if you like it, too!

Beautify Step #1

As you may have read here, I am looking to make my creative space more... friendly and accommodating.

I found some time lately to update my cheapo Target 3 drawer storage

After getting some inspiration from Pinterest (where else), I gathered some tools and got started.
*BONUS   I had all the materials already so it was a very spontaneous creation (the best kind!)

Step 1:  (not pictured)
Cut paper for size of the drawer.  I used a Target Dollar Spot find so the paper I used for this project cost approximately $.10!

Step 2:
Coat the inside of the drawer with mod podge

Step 3:
Lay paper down carefully, gently rubbing into place to avoid bubbles.  (obviously I had some bubbles)

Step 4:
Allow the drawers to dry.  Be careful when checking to see if it's dry.  Mod podge easily leaks through wrapping paper and I accidently scraped a small piece off when testing.

Step 5:
Enjoy your new lovely!

I can't wait for my next project!

Creative Space - Before

Most (ok.. all) creations are made on my living room floor.  They only make it back to my sewing room for the last few minutes for the machine work.  Not only does it drive me crazy with the pulling everything out, working, putting everything back... it's killing the hubby!  (Maybe because I'm not super great at putting everything back every time [embarrassed face].

Let me tell you why...
This is my space

I'm sharing a space with a playhouse (separated only by a kid's fence to keep her sticky fingers off the owies)

Needless to say I'm sure.. I HATE IT!

Here's what I'm working on right now:
*Painting a shelf to hang above my desk to hold nick nacks (buttons, ribbon, misc.)
*Relining my cheap Target drawers seen here.
*Organizing my desk drawers to hold things (I think all but 3 are empty... why?!)
*Finding a more suiting chair for the space

I can't wait to show you how it looks when I'm done.. and maybe one day I'll be able to actually work in my work room!

Layout Changes

I've been messing around with my layout and colors of this blog trying to find a pleasing look.... I think I like it (for now anyway).

I'm more than glad blogger is user friendly(ish) and that the husband is computer genius(ish).  Together... it makes me happy!

I've been working on a few new orders, an Iowa State shirt that stole a piece of my heart ... so cute [squeak], and a few new hair bow ideas that can lead themselves to daughter and mother alike!

I also have been thinking a lot lately about an order I got for vacation shirts to Mexico for adults... quite a large order too.  A unique and witty idea still eludes me but I'm not giving up... maybe you have a suggestion?

Enjoy some new pics and talk soon!
Iowa State Logo $13.99

What a challenge!

I just completed an order for 2 shirts which I can bravely say were a ... challenge!

I'm so happy with how both of these shirts turned out, but boy were there a lot of curves and turns with very little space!

Take a look...

See what I'm saying?!

If you're liking what you see, please leave some

Why By Nicole?

I've been getting quite a few... "but why 'By Nicole'?

For anyone who doesn't really know me, Nicole is my middle name.  I choose it because I've never been a HUGE fan of my first name mainly.
There's not much more to it than that... boring, I know.

I've been working on some new projects lately (each one accompanied by my 2 year old asking in an excited tone, "IS THIS MINE?").  At this rate, I will have to create double of each item to satisfy her as well... this could get expensive for me :-)

Here are a few new things I've done the last week or so.

Double layer initial $12.50

Again.. here is my Facebook page.   Please "like" it and show some love :-)

I've been trying my hand at quite a few new things. Experimenting with different types of flower for hair clips.

Here is some of the new things I've made this week.

I've also been trying to get my "stuff" organized... which is mighty hard in a 3x4 area of space.

Here are some fabric choices for shirts or hair clip flowers.

Remember... if you haven't done so thus far, head over to Facebook and push "Like"!

A constant list of cute ideas for shirts runs through my head. I think I'll get them down on 'paper' and rest easy I won't forget.

Stalk of corn (must be an Iowa thing)
College football initials
Christmas tree
Etc. Etc. Etc.

What would you like to see on a shirt?
Comment and win !!

Previous Work

I've been working on setting up my Facebook page to show off the goods (boy is facebook a lot more complicated than I ever gave it credit for).
I have yet to figure out how people can search for me, how to set up a contact button on it, or a link to paypal (which can be done, or so I'm told).

I'm also hoping people will start become fans of mine via Facebook.  I have a goal!  When I reach 30 fans, I will host a give away.  The winner will be allowed to choose between an initial tee (with their choice of fabric) or a set of hair clips (again, with their specifications).
Which means, if your not a fan yet... you should be :-)
                                        Be My Facebook Fan!

Remember that Facebook button in the top right corner.. click it!

Here are some pictures of shirts that I've done in the past for my little one or as gifts for inspiration!

Birthday Shirt

Nap time is my friend!
(that is of course when the fighting and crying finally stops and a stubborn little girl finally passes out).

I was able to get this sweet little birthday shirt done for a soon to be 1 year old too!

I'm loving the zebra print!

Customer # 1

Thanks to a super great friend, I have created my first sale today!  This one is off to a super cute little girl who is Dallas Center Grimes most adorable cheerleader!

                                            GO MUSTANGS!

Opening up shop

Good Morning Star Shine(s), the Earth says "Hello..."

I'm Nicole and I'm ready to put myself out there in the world and see what y'all think of my creativity and craftiness.... be gentle.

Background on me:
I am 26.
I have a 2 year old who looks and acts and talk like she's 4.
I am a newlywed for 2 months.
I have always loved crafting.
I am not a perfect sewer, but I'm getting better by the hour.
I feel bad when I get inspiration from others (is that cheating?).
I am a pleaser by nature.
I try to be funny... but sometimes only in my head.
I start projects in my house constantly and wish I had the time to finish them.
I'm very happy to meet you!

So yeah...

I've created a few ways of viewing/purchasing my creations.  Facebook and Etsy.  I'm not sure how I will do at getting "customers" but I'm hoping someone, somewhere, will want to buy something I made.
*Other than my daughter and neices whom I force to wear things for practice*

Take a look at my stuff.  I take custom orders for design and sizes too!

And the Facebook button in the top right corner of the blog.
